{Friday, September 12, 2008 . More Tekong stories}

As request by my reader.
I decided to tell them more Tekong stories.

I did not really experience much happenings in Tekong.
These were also some stories told by my sergeants.

1) The secret room behind the prayer room near the guard duty area.
Beside the guard room bunk, there was a prayer room.
I went in to pray before I do my guard duty.
If you walk further into the prayer room.
You will see a door.
This was what happen to my sergeants when they are doing guard duty.
They were late at night.
They saw light flickering near the guard room bunk.
They went up and saw the prayer room light flickering.
They wen further in.
Saw this door.
Labeled on the door was 4 languages :DO NOT OPEN!
But the door was open.
They went in.
Guess what they saw?
....
....
....
....
....

URNS! (Urns are those container which contain the ashes of the dead)
In the room, the windows were pasted with talisman and also labeled 4 languages.
DO NOT OPEN!
But they were opened.
Both my sergeants ran out of the room.

They ran down to the Terminal.
The lights went off 1 by 1.
And in the end, NO LIGHTS.
They went to the main switch.
But it was ON!

After that, they saw something white floating through the water.
They ran off and find the other guards who was also doing guard duty.

2) When my sergeants was a recruit. His section mate maybe because too daring.
Say something wrong. He said "He don't believe in those things" He shouted loudly saying if there is really those things. Why don't he encounter one?

Later at night, he heard people shouting "Fall in now" It was around 1 plus at night.
He try to wake my sergeant up and say fall in. My sergeant continue to sleep.
He walk out of him bunk but something stopping him. So he went back to sleep.
The next morning, he was going to tell my sergeant about the incident, but before that, my sergeant tell him that the whole section was trying to wake him up because he was mumbling some strange things. But could not wake him up. He tell my sergeant about the falling in incident. So my sergeant suspect that his words come true. The thing calling him to fall in could be SOMETHING!!!~ The reason why he was stop by something at the door is because of his amulet. It was so call like his spirit left his body. My sergeant told us that what if he really go out and if he has no amulet? What will happen to him?

Ok.

I try to get more stories.
Thats all folks~

{Thursday, September 11, 2008 . The stories of Tekong}

Yesterday went back to Tekong for guard duty.
Slack a while.
Eat dinner.
Then report for duty.
I am taking the 2nd and the 5th shift.
There were a total of 6th shift.

While I'm resting at the guard room.
There was a warrant officer with us.
He told us to go to the prayer room which was just beside our guard room to pray.
There were actually a lot of wandering spirits around in Tekong.
I also heard some stories from my sergeants.

During the 2nd shift, I feel alright.
I am talking with my partner.

But during the 5th shift, I felt eerie.
Because it was to 2.30am.
I am talking with my partner.
Guess what I saw?
......
......
......
......
......

A WOMAN RED FINGERNAIL on the floor.
I ignore it.
I continue talking to my partner.
I can also hear woman laughter.
I also ignore it.

But nothing scary happen.
My officer always tell us not to disturb them and they will not disturb you.

Here are some stories that I am going to share with my readers.

1) There is legend of an old woman and her granddaughter wandering in Tekong.
They were the sales girls of the island.
My sergeants tell us to carry 1 dollar coins with us if we want to go toilet in the middle of the night.
Just in case that they appear, they will want to sell curry puffs to you.
Just pass them the 1 dollar and run.

2) This is also the same as 1). Just that the story will be different.
If you woke up in the middle of the night, and saw the little girl sitting on the cupboard. Do not panic.
The little girl will ask her grandma why are all these army man sleeping.
The grandma will reply because they were tired from training.
Then the little girl will answer why this man here is not sleeping? (refering to you)
The little girl will then want you to play with her.
If you reject, the next morning you will wake up seeing her grandma on the ceiling staring at you.
This is what the legend says.

3) For those doing guard duty, if they were unlucky, they will see a woman in red siting on the jacob ladder for the SOC (Standard Obstacle Course) combing her hair.

4) When doing area cleaning, you will sometime find long strands of hair.
Those hairs were woman's hair.

5) Only for my company, platoon 3 was considered haunted.
Because they can find long woman's fingernails during their area cleaning.

6) There used to be a rule under the TSR (Training Safety Regulation) that there will not be any night training on thursday. Because many years back, there was 1 recruit missing during the field camp. And the next morning, his body was found and his internal organs was displayed beside his body. But now, this rule has be cancel.
Night training will still resume on thursday.

Well, there were a lot more stories.
Some may be true, some may be fake.
It's up to you to believe.
Some were remain as mystery till now.

That's all folks!

{Wednesday, September 10, 2008 . POP!!!}

We were rushing for time the day before.
Sleep at 9pm.
Wake up at 3am.
Pack everything up into our field pack.
Wearing Full Battle Order attire.

Ready for the final battle.
We have our breakfast and start to do warm up exercise.
Ready and everything set.
We set off for our graduation route march.
24KM!!!!

Up the hill, down the slope.
We bash through the forest.
And finally we reach the 24Km end point.
I wander how we did it?

Because of our love ones.
Waiting for us at the end point.
We will all do the best for them.

Then the time has come.
We march proudly into the parade square still in Full Battle Order (damn shagged)
Although we were very tired.
We managed to pull through.
Standing under the hot sun for 30mins in the parade square.

Finally, we march out and take off all the loads.
Ran in as a company in only our uniform.
Form up and stand still.
The happy moment, my family and dear came down and find me.
My mum put the cap on for me.
The feeling at that time is a kind of feeling that cant be describe with any words.
I feel that all the pain that I have gone through has worth it.

Lastly, we display the BMTC Roar.
And prepare our caps.
The MC announced: I hereby announce them as TRAINED SOLDIERS!
POP LO!!!!
We threw our cap proudly.

Ran out of the parade square and take our stuffs.
Go back to our company to take our food.
Play with our sergeants and officers.
Throwing them up.
Sergeant Over Head!!!
Officer Over Head!!!

Go back parade square and take photos.
And leave the beautiful place called Pulau Tekong.

After that, my family go to Bugis.
I went home.
Bath already.
Rush out to have my family dinner.
Of cos, not forgetting dear.
She join in our dinner as well. (future daughter-in-law)(She gonna kill me if she read this :P )

Well, gonna rest well now.
Because I going back to Tekong again for guard duty today.

{Sunday, September 7, 2008 . Pass Out Parade (POP)}

Finally, its the time for me to POP.
Raising 1 more rank up.
From REC to PTE.

As for my platoon sergeant, he has already ORD.
And on his last day, we request permission to let him "knock us down"
We purposely do stupid things and wanting him to tekan us.
He don't want.

Then my platoon IC purposely do a stupid mistake.
Greeting my platoon sergeant by calling him his name only.
My platoon sergeant laugh and knock us down.
We are so happy.
And every count of push ups we do, we thank him.
First time I saw a soldier having tears in his eyes.
My platoon sergeant start to tears.
It was quite a touching moment.

After we recover from our push ups, we grab our platoon sergeant and toss him up.
Having a lot of fun.

Well, finally it is the end of BMT for me.
I really have a memorable experience.
Tomorrow when I book in, I will have my graduation route march.
24Km route march in Full Battle Order.
Rest for 1 hour and I will have my Pass Out Parade in Full Battle Order.

The last and the final big obstacle to POP.
CHIONG AR!!!!
